Sketchbook Assignment for May/ June 2012

Due June 6th

Every month you will be required to do sketchbook assignments. This gives you a chance to practice your art skills; the more you do something the better you become. Some months you will get a choice of assignments, other months you will be required to complete a specific assignment. Sketchbooks are due at the end every month. Sketchbooks are worth 15% of your final mark! Please keep them up to date. You can complete these assignments during class time if you are finished early; if you do not finish early they are homework. Please note: all entries must use an entire sketchbook page unless other specifications are provided.

Complete one of the following:

11.     Look at yourself in a spoon- draw the distorted image



22.     Your choice- create a two page drawing that demonstrates several of your strongest art skills.

33.     Alter an existing image or work of art. This is mixed media so you can add paint, ink, chalk, stickers, etcetera.

April Sketchbook

Art 3200/ 2200/ Intermediate Art grade9 Sketchbook Assignment for March/April 2012

 Every month you will be required to do sketchbook assignments. This gives you a chance to practice your art skills; the more you do something the better you become. Some months you will get a choice of assignments, other months you will be required to complete a specific assignment. Sketchbooks are due at the end every month. Sketchbooks are worth 15% of your final mark! Please keep them up to date. You can complete these assignments during class time if you are finished early; if you do not finish early they are homework. Please note: all entries must use an entire sketchbook page unless other specifications are provided.

Complete one of the following: 
1. Create a fantasy building and draw it in one or two point perspective. Include the background (landscape, horizon, sky and other situational details). Use an entire sketchbook page; this assignment does not need to completed in colour but adding gradation and shading will score extra marks. This option is for 3200 Art.

2. Design an original CD or DVD cover for a musical group. Do not use conventional imagery such as peace signs. Do not use profane or unacceptable imagery/ language such as violence or pot leaves.

 3. Design a tattoo for someone particular. Your design must fill an entire sketchbook page. The image must relevant to your subject. Please include a short description of the individual you are designing for on a separate sketchbook page. Do not use profanity, vulgar imagery or nudity. Refer to your assignment handouts for photographs.

Sketchbook assignment

Your sketchbook for December/January is now due! Here is your assignment for February.

Sketchbook Assignment for February 2012

Every month you will be required to do sketchbook assignments. This gives you a chance to practice your art skills; the more you do something the better you become. Some months you will get a choice of assignments, other months you will be required to complete a specific assignment. Sketchbooks are due at the end every month. Sketchbooks are worth 15% of your final mark! Please keep them up to date. You can complete these assignments during class time if you are finished early; if you do not finish early they are homework. Please note: all entries must use an entire sketchbook page unless other specifications are provided.

Complete one of the following:

1. Draw an object with surface texture. This project is recommended for students in the 2200 Art course as it relates to your current in class assignment.





2. Design and draw a concept vehicle. A concept vehicle is a car made to showcase new styling and/or new technology. Use your imagination and design a non existing vehicle. This project is recommended for Art 3200 as it relates to the graphic design unit you have just finished.



3. Use your imagination and draw what you would see through a keyhole. Your subject may be based in reality or fantasy.

Every month you will be required to do sketchbook assignments. This gives you a chance to practice your art skills; the more you do something the better you become. Some months you will get a choice of assignments, other months you will be required to complete a specific assignment. Sketchbooks are due at the end every month. Sketchbooks are worth 15% of your final mark! Please keep them up to date. You can complete these assignments during class time if you are finished early; if you do not finish early they are homework.

Complete one of the following:
1. Over 2 pages show the gradual transformation of one object into another object; example: a pair of scissors into a shark. Details are needed in the drawing but color is optional.




2. If you got a holiday card from one of these artists what would it look like? Design a Christmas card using a selected artist work as inspiration for your design. You may create your card on a separate piece of paper instead of your sketchbook for this assignment. Use the internet as image resource.
